On Exoplanet: Flash Fiction

The legend of Messie on Exoplanet 54383. She lives in a remote body of water, between the hills of dreaming and by the sea of myth. No one has seen her in 37.6 years. I was lucky enough to catch a photo of her arching back, rising gently out of the water. Immediately after this photo, my camera shut down, and while I fiddled with the buttons, she lifted her head, and with grace and beauty out of the water. There was a twinkle in her eye, like she had disabled my camera. We watched each other for years, seconds, and she softly, gently, flowed back underneath.
